Essie - Russian Roulette

Hello!

It's been a long time since my last post, which was over a year ago. I've been keeping busy with other things such as adding more fitness to my life and eating healthier. I haven't been updating anything for my nail polish because I haven't been buying as many. Last year, I might have purchased 2. One of the colours is this one. It's not a new colour, but I like it. It's a bright red colour. I am not confident enough to really wear reds, but as I'm growing up (I'm 34 this year), I decided that I should just do whatever I want. In the end of the day, it's just make up, or it's just nail polish.

I know a bunch of trends now are peach, or nudes. For some reason, I just got a bit of the red bug. I haven't decided if red isn't as talked about because it's had it's glory and now it's time to let other colours shine, or because red is so classic that it doesn't need to be mentioned.

There are a lot of different shades of red, but there was only one type of red I wanted to have. Which is a bright red. I was looking at Shoppers Drug Mart, and I found Russian Roulette by Essie. So I thought I would give it ago. It was on sale for C$7.99, so why not? At this moment, I still wasn't sure if I would like wearing bright red. After applying this, I realized that I do love this red. It's so easy to apply. After one coat, it looked so nice! I still applied another layer just out of habit and I think I may have messed up on other fingers. The colour dries pretty well and levels off. After it dries, there is a nice shine.

I would recommend this because it's such an easy polish to apply. The brush just glided on my nail and the colour was very pigmented which is why I think it can be a one coat polish.

Welcome Spring!!!

Hello!

It's been such a long time since I posted anything. Mostly because I was lazy. In November, I was busy with some year end items for work, and then I went on vacation for about two weeks. Then from January onwards was really busy. There was also about a few weeks where I wasn't painting my nails and I didn't buy anything that fun.

I did end up selling the rest of my nail polish collection that I no longer wanted. So that was very good. Now I have about 40 bottles of nail polish. The reason I started my blog was because I was trying to display my collection and stop buying polishes. Somewhere in the beginning, I lost sight of that and just bought a whole lot. January to April is my busy time at work, which is my most stress. Usually I buy a lot of polish and eat a lot of cupcakes. Starting last year, I only bought a few bottles of polish, and I ate less cupcakes. I started going to the gym. So while everyone at work gained about 10 pounds, I lost 20 pounds. So that was pretty big for me. This year, I'm trying to keep up with that. It is difficult when your work hours are like 14hr days, and then you somehow fin time to go to the gym or have some exercise. It is challenging.

Anyway, I wanted to share my look last week. I really liked it. I got inspiration from someone in Instagram, and just used different colours and different glitters. I think her look is better than mine. You can search for aaasanooo and it'll come up from google.  Her nail art is so pretty.

This is my recreation. I used for my thumb to middle finger: OPI Pirouette my Whistle and Polka.Com
Ring finger: OPI You're Such a BudaPest and then a little bit of OPI Pirouette my Whistle
Pinky: Essie Petal Pushers and OPI Pirouette my Whistle

I really like it even though my nails are mis-shaped because I was in a rush. What I liked about this was it looked so different but it didn't take me such a long time because I used glitter polish. It dried pretty quickly. A lot of people at work liked it too, because it was like a design but not too in your face.

Another favourite I wore was Eurso Euro

The only polish I bought this year is from the Hello Kitty collection. I wanted to do a review on this, but I never got around doing it. I took me a long time to decide whether I wanted to buy this or not. This was after I sold all my remaining polishes. I felt like I had more or less a clean slate. I just kept the ones that I couldn't go without. A lot of places now, OPI sells in Canada for $12.50 in store. I would order online but it's spend $25 and then free shipping. Going by my "clean slate", I couldn't just buy $25 worth of polish. I allowed myself one polish. Luckily the place I ended up finding Spoke from the Heart was $9.50 after tax! I was happy about that.

I'm so glad I ended up with this colour. It goes on so well at one coat. I still painted another coat. It's jelly like. Such a pretty colour. I do like the wrapping of Hello Kitty.

Thanks for reading this post.  Hope you will have a good week!

NOTW: Essie Parka Perfect with As Gold as it Gets

Hello!

I have this nice pairing to share with you this week.  I really like this look.  So far, I've only worn Parka Perfect with something over it.  However, I do think it looks very nice.

I like the type of blue that Parka Perfect is.  It's like an greyish blue. On the Essie website, it is described as an alpine grey.

I also like how As Gold as it Gets just adds a nice layer to this.  I've topped this with a few polishes and I've always loved the effect.

Have a good week!

Clean Up! Nail Polish - All that I once owned

Hello!

Welcome to my nail polish clean up post. I guess you can tell by my make up collection clean out posts that a nail polish clean up post might come soon.  So here it is! I started selling my gently used nail polish last year.  I've met some nice ladies were who interested in buying my collection or they were interested in owning a salon and wanted my polish. I didn't make any money off my polish and I might have sold it at like 20%, but I wanted them to find a good home and it's always nice to receive money for it. Especially if it was barely used.

I don't know how many polishes I owned but I know I've sold a lot. For the first few sales, I sold 150 polishes two times, so that would have been about 300 polishes.  Then afterwards, it decreased and I was selling maybe 10 here and there.  There was a time where my mini plastic drawer was over flowing with nail polish bottles and I had a Sephora bag full of polishes.  I also separated all my polishes in terms of colour family so I could find it easier.  When I sold 300 polishes to someone, I gave her two bags of those Sephora big shopping bags.  I thought that was pretty intense.

I didn't really take an accurate picture of my collection, so these are just pictures I took randomly here and there.  I'll take a current collection for another post.  I still have polishes I'm trying to sell, so wish me the best of luck!

Essie Polishes. I love Essie. I didn't realize that. I think I owned even more than I photographed here at one point.  Here, I was only trying to sort it to make a rainbow picture.  Anyway, Essie is now available everywhere and it goes on sale a lot.  Also, I bought some at the L'Oreal warehouse sale, so I owned a lot.  I have sold a lot of Essie and I still own a lot.  For the Essie polishes that I do like, I like that it is opaque and classy looking.  There are some that require more coats and that does annoy me a bit because I don't always want to paint 3 coats of polish in order to be opaque.  I also feel like it looks like I layered a bunch of polish on my nails, and my fingers actually feel heavier (maybe that's just psychological but I think so).

NOTW: Essie Cashmere Bathrobe

Hi there!

It's the last week of October!

Last week I didn't end up doing a manicure, so I had nothing to share. This week, I wanted to do a grey and I picked this one.  It was between this or Master Plan.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this quick picture, I used two coats. What I love about Cashmere Bathrobe is that it's opaque in two coats and there is fine shimmer.  I haven't worn this in a long time.

I took this picture while it was kind of drizzling and I picked up a leaf.  I could have picked a prettier leaf but I quite liked this one.

Have a great week!

NOTW: OPI Louvre me Louvre me not

Hello!!

We're in mid-October now.  Time really has passed by quickly. We even had some light snow falling in Toronto. The type that melts when it touches anything.

Anyway, I wanted to share what I wore as my manicure last week.  I wore OPI's Louvre me Louvre me not. During my nail polish clean up, I was deciding whether to keep this or place it up for sale. I hadn't own this polish that long even though it is part of an older collection.  I decided to keep it in the end and I really like the colour.

I used 2 coats of polish. I think I should have done 3 coats.  Also, I painted my nails at night, so I didn't notice the patches of colour near the cuticle area.  What I really like about this colour is that there is a blue flash over the purple.

I bought this at Trade Secrets long ago.  I think it is a hard find because it's part of 2008 France collection.
