Clean Up! - Current Nail Polish Collection

Hello!

Today I have to share with you my current nail polish collection. Here it is:

Woah! I know! That's all!!!  40! I still have another bag of polish but I've placed it up for sale.

So, you've seen how much nail polish I've owned once and it was a lot.  In my previous post, I explained why I bought so much, which I guess sometimes (although there are reasons), it also just happens.  I mean, technically, if I wanted to, I can own as many polishes as I want and it's really no one's business nor do I really have to justify it.  However, I wanted to decrease my collection.

So, it started last year when I was decreasing my collection.  I basically took the colours I didn't use or never reached for.  That was basically my basis.  The ones that were barely used or still new, I sold.  The ones that were older or drug store, I took to the waste depot.  So it was kind of like that.

It got to the point where the colours that I still had were mainly the ones I still really liked.  Really liked.  Then I had to be honest with myself because I knew I didn't need to have this many colours and I didn't want it to go to waste.  Mainly the latter, because I can still sell them to someone while the polishes were still good and hopefully that person will use the polish.

Anyway, I think I was basically looking at about 100 polishes, so I broke it down like this:
1. Out of my remaining collection, pick 10 that I absolutely can not live without.  How I choose this was the colours I painted with often. Or reached for.
2. After picking 10, I still felt like I could go on. So I picked the next 10 that I felt like I needed.
3. Then the next 10 were like special editions that were hard to find. So I am keeping those.
4. The glitters.  I kept as many glitters as I could because a glitter can change a look completely. So, that's why there are 10 glitters/colours I would consider for nail art.

Some, I had to reconsider. So if I did that, I would put one back into the "don't need" stash, and pick up a "want to keep" stash.  Also, I have similar colours, so I would pick a representative of that family.  I had to put a lot of thought in my clean up (maybe a little too much thought).

There are definitely a lot of colours that I still really like that I am putting up for sale but that's only because I never wore it.  I mean, there are a lot of colours out there that seemed like a good idea and I would get a lot of use out of it, but after I bought it, I realized it was either hard to match with what I had, or I owned it and somehow never wore.

I'm surprised by the limited Essie's I'm keeping.  Not including the metallics and glitter.  I am keeping the Liquid Metals because they are good for stamping.

We'll see how long this lasts at 40 but I'm pretty proud of my clean up.  Though, I guess it's not really 40, because I am not counting the stuff I am placing up for sale.

Anyway, I hope you're having a good weekend!
