I spent a week in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic last week. Originally I was planning to do something that I couldn't wear to work, so that it would really be vacation and I could wear something more creative and crazy. I did try to do strips and some nail art but I didn't like how it turned out.
Also I planned to take Essie's Madison Ave-hue with me in case I needed to repaint my nails. I know, it seems a little ridiculous that I would want to change my nail colour during vacation but for any beach resort vacation, if there's nothing to do other than relax, I would bring something to change my nail polish.
Anyway, I decided to paint my nails with Rescue Beauty Lounge's Aqua Lily and do an accent nail on my ring finger with Essie's Madison Ave-hue.
I must confess that I bought Aqua Lily on eBay since I didn't realize that once RBL colours ran out that it would be never come back. So I paid a little more than retail, which was like C$27 in total (not too bad), but the brush is half cut even though the description said it was brand new. I won't go into much detail of that.
Overall, I really liked the colour, it was kind of like a watermelon effect that I didn't realize until I was finished. Two coats for each polish and my top coat was Seche Vite.
I just love how bright Madison Ave-hue comes off. To be honest, after running my fingers through sand, and in pool water for 4 days, I realized that my polish started to wear down. Not chipping but just loosing it's shininess. Aqua Lily definitely started to chip faster compared to Madison Ave-hue. My pointer fingers usually are the easiest to chip though since I used those fingers the most.
I think the funny thing is, after wearing such bright colours for a week, once I returned home I was so ready to wear non-bright colours. I settled for Nars Sharks in the purple shade.
