Essie: Sunday Funday

I bought Sunday Funday today at Trade Secrets.  I was trying to resist this shade since I have my Dior which is a peachy shimmer but this is more coral, so I thought I would buy it.  Last week at Shoppers Drug Mart, there was a one day sale of Essie polishes for $6.99 for selected shades.  I found the new Essie Summer Collection, but that was regular price for $11.99.  Since I wanted it enough to ask the Cosmetician, I decided to go to Trade Secrets.  I bought it for $8.95.  It's funny how Essie ranges in price.  I think it's about $7.96 at Walmart, and that's the price at Nailpolishcanada.com.

Thoughts
I painted this later tonight, so I just quickly painted it.  I had read in other blogs that it was uneven and that three coats were needed.  I didn't find this problem.  I had some unevenness but it wasn't the polish, it was me.  I wasn't sure if I was just swatching this or if I was going to wear this for the week.  I decided that I will wear this for the week, so I had to paint the rest of my nails.  Similar to Naughty Nautical, I felt like it was opaque after one coat.  I added a second because I was painting this pretty quickly and needed it to be more even.  For Essie creme shades, the first coat is always streaky and then it's even by the second coat.  I didn't have this problem with Sunday Funday or Naughty Nautical.  The finish is similar to Naughty Nautical where it's jelly like.

The colour is described as a tangerine coral crush with shimmer.  I find that this leans really coral and I don't notice any tangerine-ness in this.  I do still really like this shade though.  I'm not sure what's happening to me since these past few posts with these bright pinks, corals, etc. I usually say how I don't usually lean towards these colours but I'm loving them this year!

Essie: Naughty Nautical

When I saw the promo pictures for Essie's Summer 2013, I knew I had to get Naughty Nautical.  I also was leaning towards Sunday Funday but I bought that one a few weeks afterwards.

The colour this season is green themed, and this is described as a marine green-blue with shimmer.  I love polish in general but my weakness is the fine shimmer types.  Especially if the fine shimmer kind of shows up, it doesn't have to be dramatic but I like the dimension it goes.  I'm pretty much trying to use my will power in trying not to pick up the entire collection.  To be honest, nothing else in the collection really caught my eye.  I would love the light blue shade, Rock the Boat, but it reminds me of Bikini So Teeny.  I think one is darker than the other but that's fine, I decided I don't need both.

Thoughts
Naughty Nautical applied very nicely.  I felt like one coat did a very nice job in terms of colour and being even.  I tried a second coat, which really evened out any of the streaks but that could be me.  I feel like if I expected to do one coat, I could have achieved that.  The overall finish is what I would assume to be semi-jelly like.  This is definitely not an Essie creme polish.

Essie: She's Picture Perfect

I was shopping at Trade Secrets one day to look at the new polish collections.  I came across Essie's Wedding 2013 collection and noticed that there's a colour, Using my Maiden Name, similar to the colour I bought last year, She's Picture Perfect.  I didn't buy Using my Maiden Name because I haven't even had time to wear She's Picture Perfect yet.  So I decided to paint my nails She's Picture Perfect.  I can't really comment on how similar they look, only because one reminded me of the other but I don't have a side by side comparison.

Thoughts
I painted my nails late on Sunday, so I don't have any pictures with natural sunlight.  I like this colour and after I painted it, I wondered why I didn't wear this earlier.  It's a lilac with a pink duo chrome or flash.  The pink is very subtle and barely noticeable.  Personally I find this colour to be pretty nice on a week that I didn't want to have such a shocking colour on my nails.

I bought this last year sometime but I don't remember where.  I've seen this colour available at Shoppers and Wal-mart.  It's also available online at nailpolishcanada.com.

China Glaze: Keep Calm, Paint On

Hello, today I have China Glaze's Keep Calm, Paint On.  I originally did these swatch pictures in March, and now we're in June, so I'm a bit late in posting this.  I did paint this on my nails tonight so it's a good time to do a review.

Thoughts
I really like this colour. It's a mint with fine micro glitter in it.  The micro glitter isn't very obvious but when I'm looking at my hand, I can still see it.  The application of this was pretty easy.  It was two coats to opaque.  I have a few China Glazes, and the finish is different compared to OPI and Essie but I quite like China Glaze.  The application was smooth and the polish is pretty thin but applies really nicely.

Cirque: XX

I bought my Cirque polishes a while back and I did my review for Cape Liz but I never got around to writing one for XX.

Thoughts
I found XX very easy to apply.  I found that the clear base wasn't that thick, so it made it very easy for me to apply.  It also dried pretty quickly.  I do like the different types of glitter available in XX.

The photos include XX over Cape Liz.

I bought XX with Cape Liz on the Cirque website for U$13.  Shipping to Canada came up to U$8.

Nicole OPI: Alex By The Books

Today I have another Nicole by OPI polish to share from the Modern Family Collection called Alex by the Books.  I don't watch the show, so I'm not sure how the colour relates to the character it is named after.  I had bought this shortly after "Stand by your Manny", but I swatched this much later in March and did not have a chance to put it up until now.

Thoughts
The polish itself is pretty thin, I used three coats in order to get it to be opaque.  I do like this colour but I'm not sure if I like the fact that it took three thin coats to make it opaque.

I bought Alex By The Books at Wal-mart for $9.68.  Lately I've noticed that the Selena Gomez and Modern Family colours are back at Shoppers Drug Mart.  When there are sales, these can be a pretty good deal.
