a-england Fated Prince and Enchanted Polish Beautiful Rule Breaking Moth

I've actually swatched this a while ago but never got the chance to write my feelings towards it.  I originally wanted to wear this and felt it was too dark for that time, so I took it off.

I have two different holographic nail polishes today: a-england's (A-E) Fated Prince and Enchanted Polish's (EP) Beautiful Rule Breaking Moth.

I painted A-E's Fated Prince on all my fingers but my ring finger because EP's Enchanted Polish was going to be my accent colour.

First about A-E's Fated Prince.  Application was a dream.  I remembered how buttery smooth this was, like all other A-E polishes I own.  I really liked the effect and thought it was really pretty.

EP is a very difficult polish to get a hold on.  It obviously has a cult following because I tried to order it on their website and even though I get notifications that there is going to be a product launch, it's all sold out by the time I get there.  I bought my polish at nailpolishcanada.com and was lucky that it happened to work while I was on it.  I picked up two polishes.  The application of this is definitely the indie feel.  It's not as smooth as A-E and I really shouldn't be comparing them but since I was applying them at the same time, I couldn't help but do so.  It was also a little thicker.

Overall, if I had to pick which holographic colour to get, I would honestly say I would rather buy A-E. The colours offered are very different even though they are in the holographic category.  However, the application is smoother and it seems more delicate.

I bought both Fated Prince and Beautiful Rule Breaking Moth at nailpolishcanada.com.  a-England retails for C$13.50 for 13mL and Enchanted Polish retails for C$18.50 for 14mL. Note: When I bought my bottle, Enchanted Polish was C$16.00 for 16.50mL, which makes it C$0.97/mL, now according to the website it's C$18.50 for 14mL, which makes it C$1.32/mL.  Wow!

Essie: Master Plan

I have another Essie colour to share today.  Today is Master Plan.

Thoughts
Master Plan is a light grey.  My first coat was kind of patchy.  I'm not sure if I got a bad bottle because even my second coat wasn't such a smooth application, or not what I would have liked.

Overall, I like the colour.  I wore this for 4 days.  There was minimal chipping.  I actually wore this before Play Date.  I got tired of the grey since it was so dark outside and switched to Play Date.

Essie: Play date

Another cold January day.  Over the Christmas holiday season, I went to New York City for New Year's Eve and I caught a cold while I was there.  Luckily I was flying back home soon after so that I could get some rest before going back to work.  It was announced that the Pantone Color of the Year for 2014 was Radiant Orchid.  When January hit, a lot of the companies I follow on instagram was showing their Radiant Orchid colours.  Since I was sick, I was totally in the mood for something to brighten up my day.  On the Essie Canada Instagram page, they showed Play date.  I realized I owned this for a while but never wore it before.  Well, now is the time!

Thoughts
Everyone else around work are wearing a lot of dark colours because of the winter season/cold weather.  Although my wardrobe did not change, when I wore this, everyone was saying how they loved my nails!  The application itself was so great. It was opaque in one coat but I added that second coat to even out my paint job.  The colour is a vibrant soft purple.

I took this picture at night and did not realize how different the colour would look.  However, this is the brush :)

I bought Essie's Play Date at Shoppers Drug Mart during a sale.  I think it was about C$6.99.  Usually Essie retails at Shoppers for C$11.99 and on sale for C$9.99.  The size is 13.5ml/0.46 Fl. Oz.

Revlon Gold Coin and OPI Wonderous Star

It has taken me a really long time to write this review.  I actually took these pictures before the Christmas holiday.  I had originally thought it would be a great Holiday nail.  Which it is, it's pretty festive but I never ended up wearing it.  Then I thought it would be great for New Years Eve but alas, I also decided to go for vamp nails instead.  So finally here is my review of this look.

Thoughts
I used two coats of Revlon's Gold Coin to set the gold base so I wouldn't have to use as many coats of OPI's Wonderous Star.  Overall I thought it was a pretty nice look.  I had to place the black glitter of Wonderous Star a little.

Revlon Gold Coin: I bought this because it looked very similar to Dior's Timeless Gold.  I own Timeless Gold, but I really like that type of gold effect, so I thought I would need a dupe.  It's really pretty and it's like a white gold.

OPI Wonderous Star:  I like how there are black glitter in this. Kind of reminds me of like a golden salt and pepper.  The glitter itself is pretty nice.

Year End Round Up Post!

It's been one year since I started my blog.  When I started my blog, it was a New Year's Resolution for a two reasons: 1. To prevent myself from buying more polish; 2. To share my collection since I have so many polishes.  Well, I can honestly say that I failed at #1.  Especially for the Spring collections.  I felt like all the posts were just new polishes collections that I couldn't wait to share.

I really tried to do #2, and I'm pretty happy with the amount of posts I did.  At first, during my busy season, I was just swatching all these polishes and having them in my drafts.  This was a disaster since all those pictures didn't turn out well.  Especially my paint job.  My new approach is to take pictures of the colours I am wearing, or have interest in wearing.  I realize I can not swatch 5 colours in one sitting only to talk about it after.  I found it harder to talk about it since the experience is all a blur with another polish.  Even if I made notes, it's confusing afterwards.

Things I've learned in this year from having this blog
1. I learned how to paint my nails better - Practice does make perfect.  I'm not saying that I paint them perfectly, but better than I did before.
2. The pictures tell a lot.  I only notice the condition of my hands after I take pictures.  The camera picks up things I didn't even notice.  I never thought my cuticles were dry, but when I see it in the photos, it's surprising.  Or when I cut my finger, I realize it'll show up on my pictures.
3. Material.  Sometimes it's hard to go into detail about polishes, or if I like a polish a lot, I can probably list a lot of things about it.  Or, I'd probably end up wanting to wear them all the time, but this leaves me with nothing else to blog about.

I know I do favourite colour posts, but since it's a year end post, I'll repeat this part.

My favourite Spring/Summer Polishes
1. Essie's Sunday Funday

2. Essie's Madison Ave-hue

My Favourite Fall Polish
1. Essie: Skirting the Issue

2. Essie: Carry On

Beauty Related Favourites of 2013 (most used):
  1. Favourite BB Cream: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream. This wasn't the case until I did my BB cream collection reviews.  My favourite last year was Skin79 VIP Gold Collection
  2. Favourite Palette: Urban Decay Naked Palette.  I bought this after it was available again. I was using Japanese eyeshadows for a while but this year I've been doing more neutral eye looks.  This one is the one I grab for. There are so many colours and it's surprisingly travel friendly.
  3. Favourite eyeliner pencil: Urban Decay Zero or Demolition.
  4. Favourite liquid eyeliner: Maybelline Line Stiletto.
  5. Favourite Mascara: Maybelline Falsies.
  6. Favourite Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay in Exposed.  I'm quite heavy handed, so this is pretty easy to use for me since it gives me a little bit of colour.  Very good for mornings since I'm tired and I just want to add blush.  When it's pink blushes, I accidentally add too much colour.
  7. Favourite Lip Balm: Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm Black Tea & Blackberry
  8. Favourite Lip item: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Honey
  9. Favourite parfume: Marc Jacobs Dot.  I received a sample from one of my Sephora orders.  After that, I needed the entire bottle.  Luckily it was near the Spring Friends and Family sale.  I own other parfumes but I'm really happy when I wear this.  I could do without the top design of the bottle but it is cute.
  10. Favourite hand cream: Crabtree and Evelyn: Avocado
Thank you so much for reading my blog and have a Happy New Year!
