Year End Round Up Post!

It's been one year since I started my blog.  When I started my blog, it was a New Year's Resolution for a two reasons: 1. To prevent myself from buying more polish; 2. To share my collection since I have so many polishes.  Well, I can honestly say that I failed at #1.  Especially for the Spring collections.  I felt like all the posts were just new polishes collections that I couldn't wait to share.

I really tried to do #2, and I'm pretty happy with the amount of posts I did.  At first, during my busy season, I was just swatching all these polishes and having them in my drafts.  This was a disaster since all those pictures didn't turn out well.  Especially my paint job.  My new approach is to take pictures of the colours I am wearing, or have interest in wearing.  I realize I can not swatch 5 colours in one sitting only to talk about it after.  I found it harder to talk about it since the experience is all a blur with another polish.  Even if I made notes, it's confusing afterwards.

Things I've learned in this year from having this blog
1. I learned how to paint my nails better - Practice does make perfect.  I'm not saying that I paint them perfectly, but better than I did before.
2. The pictures tell a lot.  I only notice the condition of my hands after I take pictures.  The camera picks up things I didn't even notice.  I never thought my cuticles were dry, but when I see it in the photos, it's surprising.  Or when I cut my finger, I realize it'll show up on my pictures.
3. Material.  Sometimes it's hard to go into detail about polishes, or if I like a polish a lot, I can probably list a lot of things about it.  Or, I'd probably end up wanting to wear them all the time, but this leaves me with nothing else to blog about.

I know I do favourite colour posts, but since it's a year end post, I'll repeat this part.

My favourite Spring/Summer Polishes
1. Essie's Sunday Funday

2. Essie's Madison Ave-hue

My Favourite Fall Polish
1. Essie: Skirting the Issue

2. Essie: Carry On

Beauty Related Favourites of 2013 (most used):
  1. Favourite BB Cream: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream. This wasn't the case until I did my BB cream collection reviews.  My favourite last year was Skin79 VIP Gold Collection
  2. Favourite Palette: Urban Decay Naked Palette.  I bought this after it was available again. I was using Japanese eyeshadows for a while but this year I've been doing more neutral eye looks.  This one is the one I grab for. There are so many colours and it's surprisingly travel friendly.
  3. Favourite eyeliner pencil: Urban Decay Zero or Demolition.
  4. Favourite liquid eyeliner: Maybelline Line Stiletto.
  5. Favourite Mascara: Maybelline Falsies.
  6. Favourite Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay in Exposed.  I'm quite heavy handed, so this is pretty easy to use for me since it gives me a little bit of colour.  Very good for mornings since I'm tired and I just want to add blush.  When it's pink blushes, I accidentally add too much colour.
  7. Favourite Lip Balm: Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm Black Tea & Blackberry
  8. Favourite Lip item: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Honey
  9. Favourite parfume: Marc Jacobs Dot.  I received a sample from one of my Sephora orders.  After that, I needed the entire bottle.  Luckily it was near the Spring Friends and Family sale.  I own other parfumes but I'm really happy when I wear this.  I could do without the top design of the bottle but it is cute.
  10. Favourite hand cream: Crabtree and Evelyn: Avocado
Thank you so much for reading my blog and have a Happy New Year!
