Essie: Garden Variety

Hi there!

I feel like it's been a while since I wrote a review. Today I am doing this on my current nail of the week, which is Essie Garden Variety.

I know the collection has been out for a few months now and I bought this a few months ago as well but I'm still very excited to wear this colour.

I don't know how much use I will get out of this colour since it's not really an office appropriate colour, but luckily for me, my boss loves to paint her nails and do gel manicures. So I feel like I can get away with it. Another reason I'm excited to wear this is because I've been wearing a lot neutral colours (that I didn't really end up documenting), so I'm excited to wear a cool tone colour.

Thoughts
Garden Variety was a dream to paint.  The look is very jelly like.  It was very easy for me to paint two coats. I think if I did a thick one coat, it would have been good but actually the second coat really gave it the nice jelly feel, and made the colour really look nice.  The thing I noticed about this colour while trying to take pictures is it looks very blue.  It is what I would describe as a bright teal.  I like how it's a really uplifting teal. I'm not really sure how to describe it.  Like although it's a cool tone colour, and is a rich dark colour (as in it's not a pastel), it's bright enough for me to understand why it is part of the Spring collection.

I am pretty impressed by the colours I bought out of the Essie Garden Variety Spring 2015 collection.  I really like Petal Pushers and Garden Variety.

Breakdown
Basecoat: Essie First Base
Colour layer: Essie Garden Variety (2 coats)
Topcoat:  Essie Good to Go

I should mention that my Essie Good to Go is almost finished, so my top coat is a lot thicker than it would have been normally, possibly resulting in a very shiny finish for my photos. Just a warning.

Outside shot which I think is a truer reflection of how the colour looks

UPDATE: I should mention that when I removed my polish there was some staining. Like on my nail and fingers.  Then I used coconut oil to moisturize my hands (just cause) and the staining came off. I didn't do that on purpose but it came off. So, yay!!!  The colour lasted pretty long and I still enjoyed wearing it for the entire week.  Also received a lot of compliments. I guess because it's such a daring colour for the office.
