BB Cream: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB

Hi everyone,

I wanted to continue with my BB cream reviews.  Today I reviewed Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB cream since it's available in most drug stores.  I haven't tried the other drug store BB creams but I have received samples from Garnier, Marcelle and L'Oreal.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm

It says imported by Maybelline Canada.  So I don't know where it's made in.

Breakdown

Coverage
Light coverage on my face.  Has a dewy finish.  It does say tinted formula on the front and back of the tube.  Also has a list of benefits at the back.

Consistency
Medium-watery consistency.  Thicker than liquid foundation but not as thick as Korean BB creams.

Smell
There is a smell, but I haven't narrowed it down what it is.

SPF
SPF 30

Colour Range
There are five colours: light, light/medium, medium, medium/deep, deep.  I have light/medium sheer tint

Size and price
30mL.  I bought mine at Shoppers Drug Mart during a sale for $8.99.  I've seen it at Walmart and Rexell Pharma's Plus.

Thoughts
I bought this because it was on sale.  I admit that I have received samples from Garnier, and Marcelle when they first launched their BB creams but I never felt the need to buy them.  I recently realized that Maybelline is my favourite drug store brand.  I have so many things from Maybelline, so I decided if I were to try a drug store BB cream, Maybelline would be it.

I didn't read the "sheer tint" part of the description but it's definitely a lot thinner in coverage compared to Korean brands.  Many other beauty bloggers have commented that Western BB Creams are more like tinted moisturizers.  I have never bought a tinted moisturizer, so I'll take their word for it.

When I first applied it, I disliked it.  It was so light in coverage that I rather use my Korean brand BB creams.  I didn't use it for a few weeks after I bought it.  However, I decided it pick it up again when I was going on vacation because it was a small size.  Also if I didn't like it, I can always throw it out.  So, I brought it with me when I went to Orlando last year.  It's funny because the reason I didn't like it originally was exactly the reason I started to like it during my trip.  Since I was out all day at the parks, I didn't want something too heavy that could possibly turn out uneven.  Also with SPF 30, I couldn't go wrong.  It did make it back with me home and I also took it with me to my Caribbean vacation.  Also for the same reason of small tube and SPF 30.

This shade really matches my skin tone.  After buying this, I saw some displays with a small tube sample but I didn't try this out in the store before buying in order to match my face. Buying foundation or BB creams at the drugstore often times doesn't allow testing or colour matching.  This is also one of the cons of buying BB cream on eBay besides not knowing whether the product is legit.

One thing I did noticed is Korean brands have manufacture dates on their bottles.  It's usually good for about 2 years.  The Maybelline tube has a expiry date at the top of the tube.  That's a good thing just so that the expiry date is at a noticeable spot.

I guess the main question is would I repurchase this? I'm not too sure.  I have worn this besides my vacations but it's not something I reach for in my morning routine.  I prefer to use this during the summer though and it's winter right now.  As mentioned before, I like to wear make up that isn't so heavy during the summer.  Compared to the other BB creams I prefer to use during the summer, this one does have the highest SPF.  That is a big plus.  This one is similar in cost compared to my Skin Food Peach Green Tea and I can buy this in person.  So there is a pro with this one for my purpose of using in the summer.
