Nicole by OPI: Stand by your Manny

Hi!
Today I have a nail look from the Nicole by OPI Modern Family collection.  When I first started this blog in January the whole point was to use my current nail polish colours to avoid buying more.  I can honestly say that I have still been buying more colours, especially in the range of blue and green.  I mention this because I will have a comparison swatch at the bottom.

When the Modern Family collection first came out, I knew there would be two colours I would want, such as the periwinkle blue and the mint green.  I have colours similar to this but for some reason it's like I'm on a quest to find the best periwinkle or mint.  Also Stand by your Manny looked very similar to Nothing Kim-pares to Blue which I already own.

I didn't buy it in the beginning but then I noticed how at Shoppers only the glitters and dark colours remained for both the Selena and Modern Family collection.  I went to Walmart yesterday and they restocked the Modern Family collection, so I had to pick up the colours I wanted before.

Now let's take a look at the colour.

Thoughts
It was really streaky for me to apply this.  My point finger nail has little bumps now that I apply and remove polish so often.  It took me four coats but it was still a little bit streaky.  It could be my nail or application technique. So far I haven't had much issues with other nail polishes.  The polish is sheer, but it could build up by the 3rd coat, however it was so streaky that I added a 4th coat.

Breakdown
Base coat: Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Colour coat: Nicole by OPI Stand by your Manny (4 coats)
Top coat: Nicole by OPI Top Coat plus
Size of Bottle: 15mL

I only have ridges on my pointer finger though and it's pretty apparent here

So I was curious at how close Stand by your Manny is to NOPI's Nothing Kim-pares to Blue and Essie's Bikini so Teeny.  Bottle level they look pretty similar.

While painting on the colour wheel, I noticed how different Bikini so Teeny is.  It's definitely a cream, and the glitter isn't so apparent.  I've worn it during vacation and I do love this colour.  The two Nicole by OPI are exact dupes of each other.  At first I thought maybe Nothing Kim-pares to Blue was like a 1% slightly darker but if you look at the colour wheel the 2nd and 3rd nails look like the same colour.  The first one on the left looks a bit lighter but that could be the angle.  At the bottle, Nothing Kim-pares to Blue shows more glitter, like it's brighter in glitter.

As a test, I also painted my toes with Nothing Kim-pares to Blue on one side and Stand by your Manny on the other.  They both applied well on my toes.  I didn't notice any streaks with Stand by your Manny here.

If you have Nothing Kim-pares to Blue, then you definitely don't need this.  If you didn't buy that and still would this colour, Stand by your Manny is a good choice.  Just a warning is that I'm not sure what's going on with the formula because on my nails it was very streaky, no matter how hard I tried to balance it out.  On my toes it was normal.  I'd like to point out that I don't stare at my toes as much as I do my nails, so if there were streaks on my toes I probably wouldn't care as much.  Also it's just the big toe that has the most nail, the other ones are smaller.  I'm not too bummed out that I have two of the same colour since I like this type of colour.

I bought Essie's Bikini so Teeny at Shoppers Drug Mart during the summer and it's still available.  I bought NOPI Nothing Kim-pares to Blue at the Loblaws Super Store (I don't know if it's still available but I still see a lot of Kardashian colours), and NOPI Stand by your Manny at Walmart for $9.68.  NOPI retails at Shoppers for $10.99 and goes on sale pretty often.
