Essie: Truth or Flare

A few weeks ago I picked up Truth or Flare from the Essie Spring 2014 collection.  Originally in the Hide & Go Chic collection, I was only interested in Fashion Playground.  Then I saw an instagram of Hide & Go Chic with Truth or Flare as the French tip. At first I wasn't going to pick this up but since Shoppers was having a special BOGO deal, I decided that if they had this shade, I would pick it up.  Luckily for me, they did.

Thoughts
When I first applied this polish, I noticed that the formula isn't drippy and it was kind of jelly like.  It was pretty opaque after 1 coat but I added another coat just to even out my polish.  Though not all my nails appear to be completely covered, I really like this polish. The blue is like a hint of grey blue.  If I had to describe it, it would lean more to a sky almost turning dark type of blue rather than a bright blue.  On the Essie website, they call it a vintage denim blue.

This finish is pretty! It could seem like a creme jelly but because it's darker, it actually reminds me of what Rescue Beauty Lounge's Fire Queen aims to be like a jadeite dish but in denim blue.  What I really like about this shade is that even though it's a denim blue, because of the jelly like or the jadeite dish like finish, it doesn't seem that overpowering as it would be if it was a straight up creme finish.

Overall, I'm really happy I picked up this colour just because I am impressed that I only used 2 coats and the finish is opaque enough for my liking and it looks very pretty.  Also I'm completely surprised by this colour.  Which makes the result that much sweeter.

I might have taken too many pictures but I was very impressed by how this turned out.  A lot better than I expected since blues can turn out a bit too over powering for my liking.

Bought Truth or Flare at Shoppers Drug Mart during a sale so it costed C$5.99.  Normally it is $11.99 at Shoppers without a sale.  Essie is also available at Trade Secrets and Wal-Mart.  Available online at nailpolishcanada.com.  The bottle contains 13.5mL (0.46 Fl. Oz)
