Hello!
For a few weeks now, I've been doing a lot of cleaning. With the change of season, I just decided it was time to evaluate what I had and I should get rid of.
I know I have hoarded a lot of make up. I also know what my issues are.
1. My main buying times are usually during the spring because that is my most busy time at work. So, to de-stress, I like looking at colours and buying make up
2. I love colours. Even though I don't wear a lot of these colours, I love colours and this has been my problem since I was a child. I bought a lot of pencil crayons (coloured pencils), crayons, coloured pens, etc.
3. I love testing out new things
I'm essentially sharing a before and after. Basically, I realized that my blog helps me review the make up I own/once owned. So this is my before, but there are some additions I didn't photograph yet...
Anyways, I thought it would be fun to post what I had before. I'm just posting everything. In another post, I'll show what I currently have. The images are intense because I didn't expect to do this so it's not like I had a picture of my entire collection. I apologize in advance.
Urban Decay The Oz Collection. I ended saving some colours here and throwing some out that I don't use.
I still have all my Naked palettes which I love. I have gotten rid of the UD 15 Anniversary palette. While that had a lot of lovely colours, I just wasn't using it.
Marc Jacobs Lover palette
I really like my Tarte blushes. This is just a haul shot.
Tarte Tartelette palette
Hourglass ambient Palette
Hourglass ambient blush palettes and single. I ended up selling all my Hourglass items. They are pretty but I rarely used it. Also, I found myself reaching for something else. I was trying to own as little shimmery/glitter blushes since I have a highlighter
Sephora collection. I threw this away. I really like it but the colour on the left can be duplicated and the one on the right was too shimmery, which I was changing what I wanted.
My Revlon lipsticks. I kept some of them but I ended throwing them all away because I just didn't use them. I found out I'm not a lipstick girl.
This was just a haul or what I owned of Maybelline. I do like a lot of Maybelline products.
YSL. I still own the parfume but I threw the lipstick away. It was too old, and I think I bought a colour too light.
When I first got into Dior, I bought so many Dior items and I redeemed my Shopper points for Dior. I ended up throwing all the palettes I owned. I also threw the lipsticks away. While the shadows are pretty, I wasn't using them and I'm reaching for other things right now. I bought my palettes in 2009 or 2010. It's time to throw it out.
I still own my depotted Nars eyeshadows even though I should consider throwing it out. I realized I bought those shadows in 2010 in a warehouse sale. So at that time, it was already old. The blushes, I also threw out. I also bought them in 2009-2010 at the warehouse. I bought Orgasm at full price but I never used it. It also has some weird bumps (which I think is normal), so I threw it away.
Benefit. I ended up throwing out the set because I realized that in that nice packaging, that I don't open it. I guess I found it inconvenient. I still love Hervana, so I kept that.
Clinique. I ended up finishing the glosses. I also own the cheek pops now which I don't have a picture here.
Deborah Lippman. I have sold these except for In the Air. While the glitter is very nice, I just grew over these.
Illamasqua was very hard for me to buy before. It was easier when it was available in the US. However, now they have left North America. I do like their nail polishes. I ended up throwing away two blushes and keeping one of them.
There are other things that I had to throw away due to the length of time I owned it. If I could sell it, I did. I did reach out to some women shelters before and they wouldn't take the make up/nail polish that was gently used. I also found out that make up should be brought to a waste disposal because it is considered as household hazardous waste. I didn't realize that before...
Thank you for reading my post. I'll be sharing my current make up shortly.
